School Nurse Superpower Nominees

Nurse Sparkle Fields has the super power to be CALM IN ANY STORM. Shortly after joining our school nurse team in 2019, Nurse Fields was charged with leading COVID-19 efforts for both her school and the district. Her even temperament, compassionate nature and organized approach to problem solving helped pave the way for her team to maneuver through rapidly changing healthcare guidance, high levels of staff and student anxiety, and fears of the unknown. During her tenure with our school system, Nurse Fields has served as a school nurse, a district cluster nurse and is now our district lead cluster nurse. Nuse Fields’ extends a “hands on” approach to leadership and is often asked to attend health related student meetings to offer guidance and expertise. She readily encourages collaboration and open communication and is not afraid to meet challenges head on. A continual learner, Nurse Fields supports opportunities to teach and be taught. Her attention to process and protocol has supported district quality assurance and improvement efforts and strengthened standardization procedures for our clinics. Her ability to think proactively has also expanded our team’s vision for developing the school nurse workforce of the future.
