Kymbyatta Evans, DeKalb, Georgia

It is with great pride that I nominate Dr. Kymbyatta Evans, DNP, BSN, RN, NCSN, for recognition as an outstanding school nurse and leader. Dr. Evans exemplifies excellence in clinical practice, leadership, and advocacy, making a measurable impact on the students, staff, and families she serves. As an Exceptional Education Nurse, Dr. Evans provides comprehensive, student-centered care that integrates physician orders with the individualized needs outlined in each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP). She manages care for a diverse population of students with complex medical needs, ensuring safe access to education through consistent monitoring, intervention, and collaboration. Dr. Evans has demonstrated exceptional leadership in advancing school health and safety initiatives. She successfully led her school to achieve Heart Safe School designation by developing and implementing a comprehensive Cardiac Emergency Response Plan (CERP). Under her leadership, 100% of designated staff were trained in CPR/AED, with over 50 staff members completing certification. She also coordinated multiple hands-on training sessions and emergency drills to ensure preparedness and rapid response to cardiac events. In addition, Dr. Evans serves as a State Health Benefits Plan (SHBP) Ambassador, where she provides guidance to staff on health benefits and wellness resources, increasing staff engagement and awareness of available services. Dr. Evans is a highly effective communicator and collaborator, working closely with families, educators, and healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care and improved student outcomes. Her ability to lead, educate, and advocate strengthens both student safety and staff confidence. Dr. Evans consistently exceeds expectations, creating a culture of safety, preparedness, and excellence. Her measurable contributions and unwavering commitment make her exceptionally deserving of this recognition.
