School Nurse Superpower Nominees

I am privileged to nominate Carrie Roach as School Nurse of the Year. Carrie is the Team Lead for the 30+ Roanoke City school nurses and is a role model of school nursing excellence, blending adroit administrative skills with many years of clinical experience. At all times, she remains focused on her students to ensure a compassionate and safe environment. Beyond being the subject matter expert for the Roanoke City nurses, she often is called upon to fill in if necessary to any of the city schools. Carrie is always finding creative ways to better navigate and streamline our medical records databases as well as the Medicaid billing system. Carries’ most important attribute is that in both her administrative and clinical work, she remains student-centered and is a holistic and compassion advocate for students and their families. Her superpower is her passion for what she does and her willingness to help anyone whenever she can.
