School Nurse Superpower Nominees

Lisa brings many superpowers to her role, but her most impactful is her ability to understand cultural differences, values, and varying levels of health knowledge when planning care. Recognizing significant health disparities on her campus, she took the initiative to advocate for and implement the first telehealth program at her school. Serving a campus located in a food desert, with a student population facing severe economic challenges and rising obesity rates, Lisa continued to seek meaningful ways to improve student health. She partnered with the ADA to provide a free summer camp, giving students access to life-changing health education in an environment they may never have otherwise experienced. I have received numerous letters from parents expressing their gratitude for Lisa’s support during the diagnosis of life-changing conditions. They consistently highlight her compassion, guidance, and ability to help them confidently manage their child’s care.
