Beyond Charting: Getting the Most Out of Your EHR
Electronic health records can be much more than a place to document visits and medications. Join us to explore how school nurses can transform routine documentation into meaningful health data. This session will demonstrate how EHR data can help identify student health trends, inform decision-making and resource allocation, strengthen compliance, and highlight the impact of school nursing on student outcomes.

The speakers are:
Jennifer Rolinson, BSN, RN, MSW
Jennifer Rolinson received her BA in International Studies and Spanish from Fairfield University, Masters in Social Work from Fordham University, and BSN from the University of Connecticut. She is currently the Assistant Nurse Supervisor at Norwalk Public Schools in Norwalk, CT, focusing on quality assurance, professional development, and community collaborations.
With a strong appreciation for the use of technology in the dynamic school health setting as it relates to efficiency, accuracy, and reporting, Jennifer works diligently to ensure that school nurses have access to the most efficient tools to achieve high quality documentation and communication, leading to improved student outcomes. By integrating technology such as electronic medical records (EMRs), state immunization registries, and shared google drives, Jennifer is committed to ensuring school nurses are best equipped to assess, intervene, educate, and advocate for students and families in an organized and intentional way.
Marc Patterson
Marc Patterson received his B.A. in English & Communications/Public Relations from The University of Southern New Hampshire and is currently employed with PSNI, LLC, the makers of SNAP Health Center.
A strong advocate for technology that reduces documentation burden and enhances student health outcomes, Marc works closely with school nurse leaders to ensure EHRs are not just tools for charting, but powerful systems for reporting, care coordination, and advocacy. His professional interests focus on improving the daily workflow of school nurses, strengthening communication between schools and families, and demonstrating the value of data-driven decision making in education and health.
Marc’s current projects include collaborating with state and district nurse leaders on best practices for EHR adoption, training school health teams on advanced EHR features, and presenting at regional and national conferences on the role of health technology in advancing school nursing.
Nursing contact hours (0.5 contact hours for each workshop) are provided by Northeastern University School of Nursing, accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
