Teaching Health to Students: Best Practices and Supports
In this webinar, Dr. Gormley will share best practices and resources for school nurses to use when teaching health topics and skills to students, both individually and in the classroom. Her goal is to validate and encourage the important function and responsibilities that school nurses have for supporting students making healthy choices.
Learning Outcomes: As a result of this 30 minute webinar, school nurses will be able to identify:
1. Three best practices for teaching health to students
2. Three resources to support school nurses teaching health

Webinar Speaker
The speaker is: Jenny M. Gormley, DNP, MSN, BA, RN, NCSN, FNASN
Dr. Gormley retired in December 2025 from 25 years in school health, working as a school nurse and school nurse/health teacher/physical education administrator in public school districts, and as school nurse educator at the Northeastern University School Health Academy. One of her favorite responsibilities in all her roles was teaching students, staff and school nurse colleagues.
Nursing contact hours (0.5 contact hours for each workshop) are provided by Northeastern University School of Nursing, accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
